Day by day
Our driver meets you at Srinagar airport and takes you to a deluxe houseboat on Dal Lake. After a welcome kahwa, step into a shikara for an hour-long sunset ride past floating vegetable gardens and lakeside markets. If time allows, stroll through the Nishat or Shalimar Mughal gardens. Dinner and overnight on the houseboat.
Drive about two hours to Gulmarg through apple orchards and pine forest. Ride the Gondola (tickets on the spot) to Kongdoori for snow views in season, or take a pony to the frozen lake trail. Evening free to walk the meadow at golden hour. Dinner and overnight in Gulmarg.
Head to Pahalgam via Pampore, where saffron fields bloom purple in autumn, and stop at the 9th-century Avantipur temple ruins. Arrive by afternoon and settle into your riverside hotel. Spend the evening by the Lidder river. Dinner and overnight in Pahalgam.
A full day in the valleys around Pahalgam. Local union cabs (paid directly) take you to Aru valley, Betaab valley and Chandanwari, the starting point of the Amarnath trail. Pack a picnic, try a short walk along the stream, and return for a bonfire dinner (weather permitting). Overnight in Pahalgam.
After breakfast, drive back to Srinagar with an optional stop at a family-run handicraft workshop for pashmina and papier-mâché. Drop at Srinagar airport for your onward journey, with the valley firmly on your 'come back soon' list.
